Sarah Marlene Bonnell – 69, Medicine Hat, Alberta,
formerly of Truro. After a long, hard-fought battle, Sarah Marlene
Bonnell passed away Monday, July 9, 2018, in Medicine Hat, Alberta,
surrounded by family.
Sarah was born in Truro and remained in Truro for much of her
life. She was a member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26, Truro, and
a regular at bingo. After a lengthy career in retail, Sarah retired
and moved out west to be with family after her health began to fail.
Sarah had simple tastes, an extraordinary heart and the purest
soul.
She was predeceased by the love of her life, Richard Hoeg and
her mother, Olive MacKenzie. She is survived by her sister, Ruth
McDonald (John McDonald); brother, Don MacKenzie (Ethel MacKenzie);
daughters, Cathy Hynes (Marc Hynes) and Cynthia Bonnell;
grandchildren, Nichole Thorpe (Jeff Thorpe), Jessica Bonnell, Ella
Hynes, Samuel Hynes; great grandchildren, Issac Bonnell, Brodie
Thorpe, Kylee Bonnell-Maitz.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where the funeral service
will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, August 18, 2018, The Reverend lori
Ramsey officiating. Reception will follow. Interment in Terrance Hill
Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sarah’s memory to
Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26 (Building Fund) are welcomed. Private
