Scott, Dr. Malcolm Douglas, 87, of
Shubenacadie, passed away
Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at the White Hills Long Term Care Centre
in Hammonds Plains. Born in Edinburgh Scotland, he was the son of the
late James A. and Elizabeth L. (Gunn) Scott. Malcolm was a Doctor in
the British Military before immigrating to Canada with his family
after answering an ad in a Medical Journal while in Europe.
Malcolm was an Ophthalmologist practicing out of
Shubenacadie, Hilden, and Truro for 28 years before retiring in 1998.
Malcolm was a man of many talents other than medicine including music,
where he played violin in local orchestras, learning languages, most
recently fine tuning his Italian and gardening, where his specialty
was growing tomatoes. He had a great sense of humour and love for life
and will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. He is
survived by daughter, Nadine (John) Ferguson, Middle Sackville; son,
Douglas Scott, Paris; brother, Alistair Scott, Colinton, Edinburgh;
grandchildren, Thomas Scott, Robert Ferguson, Matthew Ferguson,
Mathilda Scott. He was predeceased by his wife, Audrey Dorothy (Hill)
Scott; son, Roland Scott. A remembrance will be held Saturday,
September 15, 12:30 to 2:30 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion
Shubenacadie (42 Mill Village Road) and all are welcome to attend. A
toast to Malcolm will be held at 1:30 pm. No flowers by request.
