Rushton, Garnet Ellis, of
Truro; It is with heavy hearts that we
announce the passing of Garnet Ellis Rushton, who passed away
peacefully with his family at his side, on Sunday, September 16, 2018,
at the Gables Lodge in Amherst, NS. Born in Westchester Station, he
was a son of the late Lamert Torrence and Georgie Marguerite (Rushton)
Rushton. Ellis retired from MT & T after 25 years of service.
He was a woodworking leader for the Clifton 4H Club for several years.
He spent most of his time in his work shop which he enjoyed very much.
He also enjoyed his Sunday drives with Lorna. In his last days he was
surrounded by many of his friends and loved ones. He is survived by
his daughters, Debbie (Walter) Rushton, Rhonda (Rod) Blois,
Joanne(Bill) Shand, Susan (Colin) MacDonald; grandchildren, Samantha,
Hannah, Carly, Jenna, Spencer, Connor; brother, Vernon (Nancy)
Rushton; sisters, Lillian Brown, Marilyn (Claude) Rushton, Sharon
(Chuck) DeCoff, Pat (Darrell) Coulter; sisters-in-law, Grace
MacKenzie, Ellen (Gary) Miller; many cousins, nieces and nephews. He
was predeceased by his wife the former Lorna Margaret (Wickwire)
Rushton; brothers, Leon Rushton, Arden Rushton; sister, Ardith Morash.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral
Home, 55 Young Street Truro, from where visitation will be held
12:45pm to 1:45pm, Wednesday, September 19, followed by funeral
service at 2pm, with Pastor Ken Banks officiating. Interment will then
be held in the Eagle Hill Cemetery, Westchester Station. Family
flowers only. Donations in Garnet’s memory may be made to
the Eagle Hill Cemetery, Westchester Station. Ellis’ family
would like to thank the staff at Gables Lodge in Amherst, for the care
