Edward Joseph "Ed" Foran - 73, Bible Hill, formerly of Moncton, New Brunswick, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, January 17, 2019, at the Halifax Infirmary, QEII, Halifax.

Ed was born in 1945 and, like many baby boomers of that time and being the second oldest of eight children, life was sometimes just about surviving the week ahead. Ed was an incredibly hard worker and skilled handy man. He spent many summers working at his Uncle Robbie’s farm on the Gaspe coast and was so fond of the time he spent there, later including his family on vacations to that beautiful, seaside property. He became a passionate outdoorsman with a love for fly fishing, hunting, motorcycles and golf.

He worked for Canada Post as a letter carrier for most of his career and always had plenty of dog stories to tell. A jovial man, Ed loved to tease and always found a way to make you smile and often dance. He loved his home in Truro and enjoyed passing his time maintaining his lawn and garden. He was truly happy spending quality time at his home oasis with Carol and his dog, Tucker, enjoying fine weather and wine on his back deck, assigning names to the neighbour’s cows while overlooking the pasture that abutted their property.

He is survived by his life-long love of 48 years, Carol (Dennis) Foran; son, Christopher; daughter-in-law, Nancy (Christie) Foran; sisters, Mary-Lou (Foran) O’Hara and Patricia (Foran) Carson; brothers, Bernard, Lawrence, Mike and Patrick; grandchildren, Sydney and Evan; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Ralph and Stella (Norton) Foran; sister, Barbara Foran, Fredericton.

Carol will be opening her home for visitation and condolences on Sunday, January 27, from 1-4 PM. If so desired, donations in memory can be made to the QEII Foundation (https://qe2foundation.ca/generaldonation) or at the funeral home.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. Private messages of condolence may be sent to the family by viewing Ed’s obituary on-line and selecting "Send A Condolence" at: www.mattatallvarnerfh.com
