Audrey Josephine (Francis) Irving – 94, Truro, passed away peacefully, with loving family at her side, on Saturday evening, May 18, 2019, at Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro. Born in New Glasgow, she was the youngest child of the late Joseph Francis, a former New Glasgow Chief of Police, and Mary Anne O’Handley.
Audrey was the last surviving member of her immediate family and was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Russell Irving; daughter, Heather Barclay; sisters, Isabel Marie, Ida and Jenny; brothers, Tommy, Jimmy, Adrian, William David "Billy", William Charles.
She is survived by her son-in-law, Charles Barclay, Truro; granddaughter, Tracy (Bob) Ross, Manganese Mines; grandson, John Barclay, Truro; great grandchildren, Chris, Noah and Ben Ross; great-great grandchildren, Riley and Charlotte Ross; nieces, Gail Gill, Ontario; Faye Francis-Draper, Truro; nephew, Layne Francis, Chester.
Audrey attended St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic School in New Glasgow for 10 years. She loved to skate, dance, do theatre and bake. She attended Mass regularly at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Millbrook, until her health no longer allowed her to leave her home.

Honouring Audrey’s wishes, there will be a Mass said in her memory at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 669 Prince Street, Truro, in the near future. Private interment will be held in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, 125 Robie Street, Truro. If so desired, donations in Audrey’s memory to Immaculate Conception Parish or Victorian Order of Nurses are welcomed.
