Elizabeth Mae Phinney, age 72, of Bass River, passed away on
Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre in
Truro. Born December 7, 1946, in Truro, NS, she was a
daughter of the late Harry and Florence (McCullough) Suttis of Truro,
NS. A loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Liz was a
wonderful person who touched the lives of many. Known for
her home cooked meals, it was many a lucky soul that was blessed
enough to sit at her table to eat. Over the years, her
spirit and hospitality had made her home, especially her kitchen, a
frequent stop for family and friends.
Liz is survived by her son Troy Phinney (Lori), St Albert,
AB; son Todd Phinney, Edmonton, AB; son Tory Phinney, Bass River,
NS; grandchildren, Taylor, Coltyn, Jacob, Jared and Hank;
great-grandchild, Scarlett; brother David Suttis, Stratford, ON;
brother Dale (Ellie) Suttis, Truro, NS; sister Dianne McKegney,
Kingston, ON; sister Sharon Sabourin, Kingston, ON; sister Beverly
Suttis (Terry), Kingston, ON.
She was predeceased by brother Harry Suttis Jr. Truro, NS;
partner Donald Richards, Economy, NS.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Mattatall~Varner
Funeral Home, 55 Young Street Truro. Honouring Liz’s wishes,
there will be no funeral service however a celebration of life will be
arranged by family at a later date. Donations in her name
may be given to the Diabetes Canada. A special thanks to the nurses of
the Colchester East Hants Health Centre who provided such wonderful
