Cavanaugh James (Jimmy, Grumpy) Creighton, 67 of Manganese
Mines, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2019 in the Colchester East Hants
Health Centre, Truro, surrounded by many loving family. Born on June
25th, 1952 in Truro, he was a son of the late Ira and Ivy (Ettinger)
Cavanaugh. Up until his retirement he worked for over 30 years at the
Fundy Trail Mall, first for Homestead Doughnuts and then for the mall
in maintenance. He was excited to retire the day he turned 65 and
spent the last 2 years building a little farm, including Jack his
donkey, playing with his toys and watching too much TV. For anyone
that knew our Jimmy they would know he lived a large life, but he is
and will always be even larger than the life he lived. It’s
unbelievable that even in his 67 years that he had enough days in his
life for there to be as many stories of his adventures as there are.
He was a Dad, soul mate, Uncle Jim, Grandfather and best friend to
many, blood did not define his circle. He was fun, funny and kind and
always the life of the party. For those babies that are yet to come
into the life he leaves behind and the children yet to grow he will be
as well-known or better because he is like the "turkey"
stories he always told, his memories and legend will grow with time
and that’s the way he would want it. If you can’t
remember or don’t know, make it up. If you want to honour
his memory today tell a harmless tale, pull a prank or just smile.
Take comfort in how many people love him and that he has returned to
the place he began, the arms of his mother.
Jimmy is survived by his love, Jeanetta, his children Brandi
(Jeff), James (Crystal), Marcia (Charles), Lee (Rosie), Kelsey, Jackie
and Blake; grandchildren Bailee, Claira, Shane, DJ, Xavier, Jeffrey,
Tori, and Jimmy, Faye; siblings Olive, Bern, Verda, Judy, Lesley,
Dianne, Barbie and Bonnie; the mother of his children, Marion; and a
grand and a great grand baby on way that will both carry his name. Not
to mention an enormous amount of friends and family that will feel the
void of his presence.
Besides his parents, he was
predeceased by sisters Linda and Shirley; brother, Al; one of his best
friends, Donna Lee.
