Charles Eric McDade – 89, Truro, passed away suddenly on Thursday morning, July 18, 2019, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Parrsboro, he was the seventh son of the late E. Cranswick and Grace (Getson) McDade.

Eric leaves to remember his children, Bruce (Norbi), Haymarket, Virginia; Jennifer MacDonald, Truro; Evan (Dawna), Burlington, Ontario; grandchildren, Megan, Katie, Michael (Kirsten), Jessica, Heather (Jason), Ian; great-grandson, Liam; brother, Gerald, Onslow, and many nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth "Beth" (Marsters); brothers, Doug, Gene, Garnet, Bill, and Bruce.

Eric was an enthusiastic sports fan, having served as a past member of the Truro Golf Club, Truro Tennis Club, Willow Street Little League and was involved with the Truro Junior Bearcats during the time the league was established. He was also a lover of the performing arts, having played in the Truro Concert Band for many years. Eric was an avid traveler who, along with Beth, particularly enjoyed ocean cruises and meeting new friends along the way.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 23, 2019, at Saint Andrew’s United Church, 55 King Street, Truro, Keith Selwyn-Smith officiating. Reception will follow. Interment in Riverside United Church Cemetery, Bass River. If so desired, donations in Eric’s memory to Saint Andrew’s United Church or a charity of choice are welcomed.
