HILL, Marina Persis - 80, Bass River, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 17, 2019, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Truro, she was a daughter of the late Robie and Lillian (Thompson) Hill.

Marina was a school teacher and taught in the Halifax area for most of her career, retiring from Rockingham Elementary School. She was a member of Bass River United Baptist Church where she was very active in the life and work of the church. Although Marina had no children of her own, she was always enthusiastic and willing to babysit for others. Many will remember her outgoing personality and willingness to help others and never expecting anything in return; she gave countless drives to people in her community to medical appointments in Truro and Halifax.

Marina is survived by her sister, Joan Branch, Atikokan, Ontario; nieces, Carolyn Crosby-Gidney, Little River, Digby County; Cindy (Ross) Carpenter, Vancouver, British Columbia; Nancy Sauvé, North Vancouver, British Columbia; Dene Moore (John Baldock), Coquitlam, British Columbia; nephews, Jon Moore, Vancouver, British Columbia; Quentin (Lori) Branch, Atikokan, Ontario; Ike Moore, Vancouver, British Columbia. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Geraldine Moore; nieces, Jennifer, Valerie "Valley"; nephew, Timmy.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Marina’s family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, August 21, 2019. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, August 22, 2019, at Bass River United Baptist Church, 5692 Highway 2, Bass River, Mr. Larry Tirrell officiating. Interment in Bass River Baptist Cemetery. Reception will follow in Victoria Hall. If so desired, donations in Marina’s memory to Bass River United Baptist Church or Bass River Baptist Cemetery are welcomed.
