Blois, Brian Lee, 71, Truro. It is with broken hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Brian on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at home with his family by his side, after a long lengthy battle with cancer.  Born in Truro, he was a son of the late Isaac and Inez (Carter) Blois. Brian was a leader, gentle loving husband, loving father and super grandfather. He was a great story teller and loved hunting and fishing. He was a sports enthusiast, coached hockey, baseball and was a mentor to many. He loved life and enjoyed it to his fullest. Brian joined the Truro Fire Brigade in 1972 as a volunteer, later becoming a career fire fighter, Captain, and later continued on to become a Fire Inspector. He was voted Fire Fighter of the Year. He taught Fire Fighting Levels 1, 2 and Fire Investigations.

He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years Betty Lou (Stronge) Blois; son Lee Blois, Truro, daughter Karla Blois (Mike) of Truro, son Jason Blois (Jane) of Truro; grandchildren, Austin Gillis, Emma Cummins, Addison Blois; brothers Keith (Martha) Blois of Salmon River, Wayne (Carol) Blois of Onslow; sisters, Avis (Ernie) Chapman of Ontario, Joan (Logan) Fulton of Truro; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by brothers, Gerald, Graham and Logan.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where a Firefighter’s Tribute Service will take place on Saturday, Nov. 2nd at 2 pm followed by a public visitation until 4 pm. Public who wish to attend the Firefighter’s Tribute Service can gather in the Truro Fire Service Hall where a live broadcast will take place for you to watch. A special thanks to Dr. Shikhi Sharma, the V.O.N., Lisa Weatherbee, Doctor’s and staff of the Palliative Care Team. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Red Cross, V.O.N. Colchester East Hants District, or the Canadian Cancer Society.
