G. Arthur
Pratt – 94, Central
Onslow, passed away peacefully, with family at his side, on Friday
morning, November 22, 2019, at The Mira Long Term Care Centre, Truro.
Born in Truro, he was a son of the late Clarence and Bessie (Downing)
Pratt.
Arthur was a member of Trinity
United Church and Onslow Belmont Fire Brigade. He was a veteran of the
Second World War having served with The North Nova Scotia Highlanders
and was a member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26, Truro. He worked
as a mechanic at Dewar’s Garage in Bible Hill, Blaikies in
Truro, Vantage Volkswagon and Will Kare Paving. He loved
fiddle music, old cars, dancing, going to the weekend dances and
enjoyed going RVing with their friends to various places.
Arthur is
survived by his daughters, Joan (Al) Roland, Truro; Mary
Pratt (Judi Milne), Conquerall Bank; sons, Robert (Judy) Pratt, Truro
Heights; Brian Pratt, Hart Lake; Michael Pratt (Joyce), Central
Onslow; Randy Pratt (Pauline Currie), Harmony; sisters-in-law, Audrey
Organ, Debert; Louise Pratt, and her two sons, David and Chris,
Kamloops, British Columbia; 15 grandchildren; several great
grandchildren. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his wife,
Irene Edith (Dickson); brothers, Gary (Diane) Pratt, Arnie Pratt;
brother-in-law, Rex Organ; niece, Carol Organ.
Special
thanks are extended to all Dad’s caregivers, especially
Annette Henderson, who enabled George and Irene to stay in their home
for as long as they could and also to the staff at The Mira for your
wonderful care.
Arrangements have been entrusted
to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro,
where members of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26, Truro, will conduct
a tribute service 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 27, 2019, followed
by visitation from 1-3 pm. Private interment in Onslow Island
Cemetery, Central Onslow. If so desired, donations in
Arthur’s memory to Onslow Island Cemetery (c/o Marie F.
McCully Collier, 9 Main Street, Bible Hill, NS B2N 4G4) or Onslow
Belmont Fire Brigade (c/o Walter McElhinney, 19 Cutten Lane, Central
Onslow, NS B6L 5B7) are welcomed. Private messages of
