Bonnell, Velma May, 90, Truro, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2019, in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, with her daughters by her side. Born in Milton, Queens Co., NS, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Louise (Nelson) Baird. Velma was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and was an avid quilter.

She is survived by her daughters, Elda (Karl) Smith. Truro, Anita (Paul) Burke, North River, Col. Co; grandchildren, Merlyn (Mary Ellen), Krista (Terry), Michael (Sandra), Jason (Amanda), Darcy (Carrie), Catherine (Nathan), Kimberly (Jeremie), Dennis (Maureen); 13 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Paige, Lawrence (Joan), Danny (Sally), Allan (Doris);  sister Faye Bradley ; many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Walter Charles Bonnell; 3 great-grandchildren; sisters, Louise Baird, Susan Horder.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, from where visitation will take place on Thursday morning at 10 am followed by funeral service at 11:00 am, Nov.28th. Reverend Andrew Campbell will officiate with burial to follow in Crossroads Cemetery, Valley.
