McCallum, Audrey Isabel "Faye"- 86, of Truro,
passed away peacefully on November 30, 2019, in Wynn Park Villa,
Truro. Faye was born January 24, 1933 in Londonderry
Station, and was a daughter of the late Daniel Steele and Pearl Irene
(Johnson) Giddens.
Graduating from Success Business College, Faye went to work
as a bookkeeper at T.S. Pattillo Company. After raising her
boys, Mike, Glenn and Darrell she returned in 1971 until her
retirement. She reveled in cheering for her sons and grandchildren in
their many activities; she was their number one fan! Faye
was a quiet yet vibrant woman, always the first to help a friend or
neighbor in need. She was very community minded and
supported many charities. She supported Terry Fox as he ran
through Truro as part of his Marathon of Hope and she participated in
the Terry Fox run annually for many decades. She and Archie
volunteered with Meals on Wheels, eager to help seniors in their
community. A talented baker and canner, her kitchen was
always warm and inviting, a cup of tea was always offered.
She enjoyed spending her summers on the Brule Shore, having learned to
swim later in life. In winters she delighted in cross
country skiing, producing maple syrup with Archie in McCallum
Settlement and skating, on racing skates!
Faye was the last surviving member of her large Giddens
family. She is survived by her sons, Mike (Barb); Darrell
(Meg); grandchildren, Katie; Michelle; Emily (Tyler); Cara; Neil;
great-grandchildren, Chardonnay; Christian; sisters-in- law and many
nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her adoring
husband, Archie; beloved son, Glenn; and siblings.
The family would like to extend our sincere appreciation to
Townsview Estates and Wynn Park Villa for their loving care of Faye
these past few years, your care was exemplary.
