Brenton Gene Garnhum

Garnhum, Brenton Gene, 79, Glenholme, passed away peacefully at home with his wife Susan by his side on Sunday, January 12, 2020. Born in Amherst he was the son of the late Brenton James and Jean (Hutchinson) Garnhum. Brenton was a former bus driver having driven for Acadian Lines, and also worked in the Truro Terminal as a ticket agent. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Brenton was a huge and an avid fan of the Toronto Blue Jays. He always enjoyed visits from his children and grandchildren. He will also be missed by his best canine friend Pepper.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Susan (Seaman) Garnhum; sons, Dan (Tammy), Bible Hill, Ron, Belmont, Bob (Nikki), Fall River; daughters, Sandra Adams, Truro, Lynda Leffler (Chuck), Ontario, Joanne Barton (Corey), Sussex, NB; grandchildren, Rachel, Tim, Josh, Brent, Ashley, Jeff, Matt, Joey, Caitlynn, Alec, Brooke, Codie, Jevan, Kenleigh, Haley, Brandon; several great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; long-time friend, John

He was predeceased by brothers, Bill, Dr. Dan, Richard; sister, Anne.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. All are welcome to join with Brenton’s family on Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 7:30 pm at Faith Baptist Church Hall, 38 Station Road, Great Village, NS for fellowship and refreshments. A special thank you to Dr. John Henderson, Angela McDonnell, Palliative Care Team, Connie Dawson and the Home Support Workers and to the V.O.N. for your kindness, compassion and your wonderful care give to Brenton.
