Suttis, Harland Douglas, Lower Economy. It is with a grateful heart for a life well lived that I announce the death of Harland Douglas Suttis, my husband, soulmate and best friend. Born in Truro, he was the son of the late Trueman and Barbara (McLellan) Suttis. Harland’s life passion was music, teaching, preforming and for 40 plus years as an accomplished luthier, repairing and restoring guitars. His reputation was among the best. He was a man of God, who patterned his life after the first four words of the Bible, "In The Beginning God". He loved and cared for people as he was loved and cared for. And his wacky sense of humor kept us off guard and smiling right to the end.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Paulette (Polly); brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Homer and Beverley Garrison; nieces, Heather Lunn and Correen Garrison.

He was predeceased by a brother Trueman.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, March 15th from  2-4pm  in the Economy Recreational Centre, Economy. Private interment will take place at a later date in the Economy Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to Palliative Care of the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, Colchester East Hants Hospice Society, or to the Open Arms Church, Parrsboro.  My sincere thanks to the Palliative Care Team of CEHHC, Truro, the VON Home Care and nursing staff, and for the love and prayers of many special friends. Arrangements are under the direction of the Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. Private messages of condolence may be sent to the family by viewing Harland’s obituary online and selecting "Send a Condolence" at www.mattatallvarnerfh.com
