Heather Elizabeth O'Brien – 55, Masstown. It is with great sadness we announce the unexpected passing of our wife, mother and grandmother on Sunday, April 19, 2020. She was the eldest daughter of the late Harold Murray and Enid (Gass) Lawerence.

Heather is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Andrew "Teddy" O’Brien; sons, Andrew (Erin) O’Brien, Logan Green; daughters, Kathleen (Jeffrey) Devine, Darcy (Dustin) Dobson, Molly O’Brien (Leonard McLellan), Michaella O’Brien (Shannon Scott); step children, Kelly and Neil O’Brien; sister, Holly (Roy) Sullivan; brothers, David (Flo) Murray, John (Amy) Murray; many special nieces and nephews. The lights of her life were her 12 beautiful grandchildren; they always had a soft place to land with their Grammy. She will be forever missed by Isaiah, McKenna, Lincoln, Scarlette, Liam, Wyatt, Rainna, Paisley, Lyle, Penny, Blake and Parker.

Heather was a life-time resident of Masstown and she had a great love for the community she was raised in. Aside from her family, Heather’s next great love was nursing; she worked for VON for over 16 years and to say she loved her job is an understatement. She went out into the community every day with a passion for people, kindness for everyone and lessons for those who needed to be taught. We know that her nursing family will be greatly affected by her loss and we would like to thank them for the years of friendship they shared; she loved you all.

She was a teacher in her heart and in her younger years she taught Sunday school and youth groups in our local church; she had a special bond with kids. It didn’t matter who walked through her front door there was always a hot meal and warm bed for anyone who needed it. She was an advocate for many young people over the years.

In the past few years she had found a passion in spiritual healing and Reiki. She was truly gifted and wanted nothing more than to make the world a better place. Heather was a natural born healer. We have lost an incredible woman, with a heart of gold, but we know that she’s smiling watching us. Her spirit will live on in her children and grandchildren for many years to come.

Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, we ask for no visitors at this time as we already have a large immediate family. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. Private messages of condolence may be sent to the family by viewing Heather’s obituary on-line and selecting "Send A Condolence" at: www.mattatallvarnerfh.com
