Abigail Elizabeth May Parker – 8, Truro. Our hearts are broken to announce that Abigail passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, on Monday afternoon, August 21, 2023, at IWK Health Centre, Halifax. Abigail was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia on July 21, 2023, and passed suddenly from complications just one month after her diagnosis. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of Bradley Parker and Alexandra Poole, Truro.

Abigail was a student at Truro Elementary School and would have been going into grade three in September. She enjoyed attending Mount Pleasant After School Group, visits at her grandparents, and spending time with her cousin, Evelyn; they loved March breaks together, birthday parties and extended weekend sleepovers. She was an avid video game player, YouTube enthusiast, (having made her own YouTube video), and an exceptional swimmer. Our smart and funny Abby loved making crafts, and we always looked forward to seeing her next creation.

Along with her parents, Abigail is survived by her siblings, Brooklyn Parker, William Parker; grandparents, Ken and Kelly (Weagle) Poole, Milford; grandmother, Margaret MacInnis, Springhill; grandfather, John (Carrie) Parker, Middle Stewiacke; great grandparents, Joseph and Diane Layton, Miramichi, New Brunswick; aunts and uncles, Chris Poole, Truro; Laura (Joe) Potter, Amherst; Scott (Danielle) Parker, Shelburne; Trisden Murphy (Julia Barker), Bible Hill; Riley Parker, Middle Stewiacke; Macabe Parker, Middle Stewiacke; Callum Parker, Middle Stewiacke; several cousins.

We would like to thank everyone for their tremendous support over the past couple of months.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where a celebration of Abigail’s life will be held 2 p.m., Friday, September 1, 2023, followed by a reception. If so desired, donations in Abigail’s memory to IWK Health Centre are welcomed. Public messages of condolence may be sent to the family by viewing Abigail’s obituary on-line and selecting "Send A Condolence" at: www.mattatallvarnerfh.com
