MacKenzie, Jennie Pearl Clare, 99, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2012 in Vimy Court, Bible Hill. Born June 15, 1912 in Five Mile River, Hants County, she was a daughter of the late James Ray and Leonore (Gorman) Fitch.  Jennie was a member of the C.W.L of Immaculate Conception Church Parish, Canadian Bible Society, World Vision, heart and Stroke Fund of Nova Scotia and the Nova Scotia Lung Association. She had a gift of putting pen to paper. Her stories and letters will be deeply missed. Jennie was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She was a homemaker and mother of three. She is survived by daughters Jane Hyatt, Peterborough, ON, Linda Rice, Truro; 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Lionel MacKenzie in 1992; son Bobby MacKenzie

Visitation will take place on Sunday, May 13th from 6 – 8 pm in the Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. Funeral service will take place on Monday May 14th at 11 am in the Immaculate Conception Church, Truro.  Father Dariusz Miskowicz will officiate with a reception to follow in Campbell Hall. Burial will follow in Crossroads Cemetery, Valley. Family flowers only. Donations in Jennie’s memory may be made to St. Vincent De Paul.
