Fontaine Aumbrae
Hughes – 67, Bible
Hill, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 6, 2013, at his home,
following a lengthy illness. Born June 18, 1945, in Western Shore, he
was a son of the late James and Bernice (Swinamer) Hughes. He grew up
in New Ross before moving to Truro in 1959.
Fontaine is survived by his loving wife, Linda Metlin-Hughes;
children, Lori Hughes, Patty Lewis (Travis Black), Jamie Metlin
(Leslie Hickey), Kim Metlin (Craig Robertson), Eric Hughes;
grandchildren, Erica Robertson, Cameron Durling, Atlanta Black, Adam
Robertson, Kailyn James-Metlin; sister, Alta (Lloyd) Graham; brother,
Robert Hughes (Angela Starratt); brother-in-law, Alfred Martin;
several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased
by his brothers, George, Carl, Vernon; sisters, Juanita Martin, Sally
in infancy.
Fontaine was the owner of several local taxi companies and
loved conversation and interaction with his passengers. He was a
people person and found it hard to leave driving cab and continued to
stay in contact and communication with colleagues at local taxi
stands. Thank you to Sue Gibbons, Palliative Consult Nurse, and

compassion and support.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where the funeral service
will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 14, 2013, Reverend Brian DeLong
officiating. Reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in
Fontaine’s memory to Colchester East Hants Hospice Society
