Sandra Olivia (Bylund) Chapman – 58, North River. With saddened hearts we regretfully announce the passing of Sandra Olivia (Bylund) Chapman, on Monday, March 24, 2014, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, with her loving children at her side. Born August 25, 1955, in Worcester, Massachusetts, USA, she was a daughter of the late Russell and Shirley (Munro) Bylund, and moved to Nova Scotia in 1965.
Sandra was a waitress at China Rose Café since it opened in 1990, where she worked alongside her best friend and "sister", Leona Tam. Her customers were her second family and they will miss her dry sense of humour and sassy attitude. She enjoyed "golfing" with Eldon, meaning she would drive the golf cart, taking in nature while Eldon worked on perfecting his game. Sandra cherished the time she spent with Eldon, whether they were working in the yard, "golfing" or spending time together at home. Sandra was one who did a lot behind the scenes and never wanted the attention or recognition for doing those things. She enjoyed bowling, watching soap operas, loved animals, scratch tickets, was a wonderful cook and took great pleasure in the simpler things in life. A true family woman, she was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren and their accomplishments, which she told you about any chance she could!
Sandra is survived by and will be missed her loving husband of 40 years, Eldon; children, Sacha, Shane (Sara), Sonja (Gordie); grandchildren, Camrin, Lilly Mae; brother, Kenneth (Brenda) Bylund; nephews, Geoffrey and Peter Bylund; step-children, Mark, Lisa. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her grandson, Brittain in infancy.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Sandra’s family will receive friends from 3-6 p.m., Saturday, March 29, 2014, where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, March 30, 2014, Reverend Valerie Kingsbury officiating. Reception will follow. If so desired, donations in Sandra’s memory to SPCA are welcomed.
