Rena Helen (Fulton)
Bennett – 95, Truro,
formerly of Fort Ellis, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening,
July 12, 2014, at Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro. Born November 27,
1918, in Fort Ellis, she was a daughter of the late Warren and Beulah
(Meadows) Fulton.
Rena was a graduate of Provincial Normal College (1939),
Success Business College, Truro, and Alberta College, Edmonton,
Alberta. She taught in Nova Scotia, Quebec and Alberta. She worked in
Civil Service in Ottawa and Halifax and served in the
Women’s Royal Canadian Naval Service for two and a half
years during the war. She worked in a Native school in Alberta as
secretary to the Principal and Senior Girl’s Supervisor, as
House Mother at Acadia University and as a front desk clerk in motels
in Bedford and Truro. After retirement, she worked as a volunteer at
Colchester Historical Museum, Truro, for a number of years and where
she was a life member.
Rena is survived by her sisters, Erna Seavey, Exeter, New
Hampshire; Ruby (Gary) McMahon, Stewiacke; Edith (Jack) Mitchell,
Richmond, British Columbia; sister-in-law, Margaret Fulton, Stewiacke;
several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was
predeceased by her husband, James Collier; sister, Dorothy (James)
MacDonald; brothers, Murray (Marjorie) Fulton, Raymond (Florence)
Fulton, Lloyd Fulton, Charles (Miriam "Mickie") Fulton.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where the funeral service
will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, July 17, 2014, Reverend Martin Reid
officiating. Reception will follow. Interment in Pine Grove Cemetery,
