Freda May
Acker – 92, Truro,
passed away peacefully Monday morning, July 14, 2014, at Williams
Country Home, Hilden. Born October 4, 1921, in Little Bass River, she
was a daughter of the late Andrew and Daisy (Fielding)
Wilson.
Freda was employed for 41 years at Truro Daily News and she
loved sewing, crocheting, knitting and bowling. She was a very skilled
equestrian and in 1975, riding her own horse, she completed the Pony
Express, riding from Truro to New Glasgow actually carrying mail.
Freda and Alfie truly enjoyed competing in exhibitions in Truro and
surrounding areas.
Freda is survived by her brothers, Harry (Phyllis) Wilson,
Debert; James "Hank" Wilson, Truro; sisters-in-law,
Elizabeth Marsh, Rosemary Acker; many nieces and nephews. Along with
her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Alfred
(April 2011); sisters, Lillian, Barbara; brother, George. The family
would like to acknowledge the excellent care that Freda received from
the staff at Williams Country Home, VON and Palliative Care and thank
them all for their compassion.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where the funeral service
will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 16, 2014, The Reverend Gary
Yetman officiating. Interment in Terrace Hill Cemetery. No flowers by
request. If so desired, donations in Freda’s memory to a
