W. Addison Sutherland – 93, Debert, passed away peacefully, with loving family at his side, on Monday evening, July 21, 2014, at Debert Court. Born February 12, 1921, in Cumberland County, he was a son of the late John and Flossie (Mills) Sutherland.

In earlier years, Addison was a trucker and worked in the woods. He then drove school bus for Chignecto  School Board, enjoyed working on his hobby farm and being a volunteer firefighter with Onslow-Belmont Fire Brigade.

Addison is survived by his children, Sandra Blair, Enfield; Linda (Bev) Burton, Debert; Anita (Robert) Geddes, Hilden; Gina Sutherland, Toronto; grandchildren, Kathleen (Arol), Lynne (Todd), Lorelei, Rod (Maurena), Amy (Mark), Megan, Erin; six great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; siblings, Madeline Bennett, Ontario; Leota Perry, Valley; Florence Phillips, Truro; Dorothy Pettigrew, Kentville; Hedley Sutherland, Springhill; Darrell Sutherland, Petitcodiac, New Brunswick; Elson Sutherland, Portapique; Ralph Sutherland, Rodney, Cumberland County; Elizabeth Sutherland, Evelyn Creelman, Halifax; several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his grandson, Billy Blair; great grandson, Austin Blair-Totten; siblings, Victor, Agnes, Mabel and two brothers in infancy.

Honouring Addison’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. If so desired, donations in Addison’s memory to Debert Court Recreation Fund are welcomed.
