Matheson, John M., 84, Truro, passed away Saturday, August 2, 2014 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in East Earltown, NS, he was a son of the late Alex and Ellie (McNutt) Matheson. John worked for the CNR for 34 years as a Brakeman and Train Conductor. He was a member of the Golden Age Auto Club, Truro, and had a great love for antique cars.

He is survived by his wife, the former Lorraine LeBlanc; sons, Randy (Debbie) and Darryl (Leanne); daughters, Debbie (Sheldon Doyle) and Kelly (Rob Putnam); step-sons, Peter LeBlanc, Brian LeBlanc, Gary LeBlanc, and Michael LeBlanc; step-daughters, Patricia LeBlanc and Holly LeBlanc; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother Dennis; and sister Anna McFadden.

He was predeceased by brothers Bennie and Lloyd, and sister Betty Yuill.

No visitation by family request. Arrangements are under the direction of Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, from where a funeral service will take place on Wednesday, August 20th at 2:00 pm. Rev. Dr. David Sutherland will officiate with a reception to follow in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery, Denmark. Live webcasting of John’s funeral service will commence at 2:00 pm.
