Wanda Colleen Maberry-Brown - 61, Westchester Station,
passed away peacefully, surrounded by loving family and friends, on
Thursday, August 7, 2014, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre,
Truro. Born October 9, 1952, in Welland, Ontario, she was a daughter
of Eileen (Webb) Brown, Westchester Station, and the late Ray Maberry.
She spent her early years in Westchester Station,
moving to Beaver Brook at the age of seven. She attended Canadian
Nazarene College, Winnipeg, and NSCC, Kingstec Campus, Kentville. As a
young, single mother, she supported herself and her children by taking
in students, cleaning houses and keeping children. After living in and
around Truro, Falmouth and Grand Manan Island, New Brunswick, Wanda
finally returned to her beloved Westchester Station a few years ago
and set up housekeeping in a picturesque cabin in the woods before
buying her dream house. She was the perfect pioneer woman, making her
own soap, chopping firewood, melting snow for water and feeling
herself blessed with the work. Wanda loved Christmas, her cats, and
her family, especially all of her babies. Her home was full of the
smells of her wonderful cooking, crafts that she created and the love
of the Lord; hospitality, creativity, and industriousness were her
watchwords. Most recently, she worked as a family support worker with
Earth Angels and at Wicker Emporium and Wentworth Market.
Along with her mother, Wanda is survived by her
husband, Tim Brown, Westchester Station; brother, Terry Maberry,
Westchester Station; sisters, Carol Maberry, Truro; Laura (Max)
Fisher, Otterbrook; children, Christopher Clark (Jessica Hamilton)
Calgary; Erin Clark (Steven Hartt), Windsor; adored grandchildren,
Joshua and Emma Burrell and brand new grandbaby, Hayden Hartt;
step-children, step-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and many
good friends. Along with her father, Wanda was predeceased by her
brother, Paul Maberry. Special thanks are extended to
3rd floor staff at Colchester East Hants Health
Centre, especially the Palliative Care Team.
