Taylor, Susie (Way) Beecham, 92, Debert, passed into the
presence of Jesus on Wednesday, August 12, 2014. Born in Newtown, NL,
April 2, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Archibald and Nora
(Dyke) Way. Susie served alongside her first husband in several
pastorates in Newfoundland, Labrador and the Maritimes, first in the
United Church of Canada and then with the Atlantic Baptist
Convention. She was very active as church organist and choir
director. Susie was also well known for the scores of piano
students that she taught over the years and her hospitality that
always included "A cup of tea" making her home in Debert a
favorite stopping place for many.
She is survived by her brother, Rev. David Way (Debby) and
several nephews and nieces.
She was predeceased by her husbands, Rev. Herbert Beecham and
David Taylor; brothers, Bernard, Walter, Wilfred and sisters, Molly
and Nina.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, from 6-8 pm in the
Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. A service of
music and celebration will be held on Sunday, Aug.
17th at 2:00 pm in the Debert Baptist Church,
Debert. Rev. David Way and Pastor Bill Martin will officiate with a
reception to follow in the church hall. Burial will follow in the
Middle Road Cemetery, Debert. Donations in memory may be made to a
