George Allison Spicer –
83, Lower Harmony. It is with broken hearts that we
announce the passing of our beloved Dad, George Allison Spicer, on
Saturday morning, August 16, 2014, at Colchester East Hants Health
Centre, Truro, following a short battle with cancer. Born August 9,
1931, he was a son of the late Cecil and Alma (Yetter) Spicer and was
predeceased by his wife, Cleta (Strong) in 1982 and a son in
infancy.
George is survived by his sister, Lorraine Colpitts (Lee),
Truro; brothers, Lloyd (Vivian) Spicer, Bible Hill; Stephen Spicer,
Truro; daughters, Nancy (Vernon) Blair, Truro; Valerie (Randy)
Johnson, Bible Hill; Julie Spicer, Trenton, Ontario; sons, Roger (Liz)
Spicer and Earl Spicer, Lower Harmony; numerous grandchildren, great
grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Dad and Mom raised five children until Mom’s
passing, when Dad took on the role of both parents. He was a hard
worker, a dedicated father and true friend and loved to joke and tease
his large family. He enjoyed heavy mechanics and tinkering with
anything with a motor. Dad spent his summers at the cottage where he
always enjoyed family gatherings. Special thanks are extended to Dr.
Robert Graham and Morgan, Lisa and Dr. Smith of the Palliative Care
Team at Colchester East Hants Health Centre.
