Anne Judith "Judy" (Stevenson)
Creelman - 78, Beaver Brook,
Colchester County, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 16,
2014, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Truro on
May 3, 1936, she was the eldest daughter of the late Gordon and
Blanche (Crocker) Stevenson.
Loving and loved daughter, wife, mother, sister, and
grandmother, Judy loved and valued her family, books,
reading, genealogy, history, and travel (especially to England and New
England). She enjoyed a good political discussion with
family members and she particularly enjoyed meeting and getting to
know all those she encountered as she and Ira moved around the country
and overseas while Ira was a member of the Canadian Armed
Forces.
In between moves, after the children were grown, she was able
to transform her love of reading and working with books, into jobs in
several libraries and bookstores (working in the Dartmouth Library for
a time, at Saint Mary’s University and the bookstore in
Greenwood). After their retirement and return to Colchester County in
1988, Judy joined the Colchester Historical Society and worked as a
volunteer for the Museum and Archives.
Judy will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 62 years,
Ira Eugene Creelman, Beaver Brook; sons, Brian (Lynn), Ottawa; Steven,
St. Thomas, Ontario; daughters, Cheryl Tousignant, Edmonton; Laurie
Creelman, Beaver Brook; Christine "Tina" (Remi)
MacDonell, Dartmouth; grandchildren, Michelle, Christopher, Brent, and
Nicholas Creelman; Eva Marie Mathieu and Chanel Dagenais; Jean and
Tanya Tousignant; Michael MacDonell; great-grandchildren, Rave
Tousignant and Kiva Bertrand. She is also survived by her
sisters, Nancy (Paul) Blaikie, Bible Hill; Peggy Ross, Truro; a number
of nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by
her brothers, Stanley "Duke" and Edward
"Sonny" Stevenson.
