Murdoch Edward
Dingwell – 94, Bedford,
passed away Monday, August 18, 2014, at Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born
December 5, 1919, in Port aux Basques, Newfoundland, he was a son of
the late John and Violet (Rogers) Dingwell.
Murdoch was in service with the Newfoundland and
Canadian Governments for 44 years, first with HM Customs, Port aux
Basques, Newfoundland from 1941-1949 and then with Canadian
Immigration at the Gander Airport and then in Sydney. He
was a
member of the United Church and attended churches in Newfoundland, St.
Andrew’s in Sydney and most recently at Knox United in Lower
Sackville.
Murdoch is survived by his loving wife of 64 years,
Alma Elvina (Stratton); children, Carson (Debbie) Dingwell, Dartmouth;
John Dingwell, Toronto; Margaret (Arleigh) Hillman, Lower Sackville;
grandchildren, Angela (Dingwell) Woods and Tammy (Dingwell)
Cadegan, Fort McMurray; John, Katie and Emily Hillman,
Lower
Sackville;great grandchildren, Farrah Woods and Kaleigh
Cadegan; sisters, Blanche and Rosemary; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sisters,
Myrtle,
Gwen, Joan and Sue; brothers, Rod,
Rex and Arch.
All are welcome to attend a graveside interment
service that will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 21, 2014, in
Oakridge Memory Gardens, 1078 Old Sackville Road, Middle Sackville,
Reverend Matthew Fillier officiating. In lieu of flowers,
donations in Murdoch’s memory to Knox United Church (General
Fund), P.O. Box 210, Lower Sackville, NS

or Shriners Hospital for Children, 3530 Connolly St., Halifax,
NS B3K 5M7 are welcomed. The
family is grateful to the staff on 8.4 of The Infirmary for the
compassionate care provided to him. Arrangements have been entrusted
