Helen
Evelyne Wamboldt – 91, Truro, passed
away peacefully Sunday morning, September 7, 2014, at Cedarstone
Enhanced Care, Truro. Born June 2, 1923, in Truro, she was a daughter
of the late Hector and Lauretta (McCarthy) Geddes.
Helen
was an active member of First Baptist Church for many years
and was involved with Diamond Rebekah Lodge # 15, where she was past
President of Rebekah Assembly, past Most Worshipful Grand Mistress of
Canada (LOBA) and past Senior Perceptress of Grand Crystal Chapter of
Canada. She was also past President and current member of Ladies
Auxiliary, Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26, Truro, Ladies Auxiliary,
Hilden Fire Brigade and past President and current member of Hilden
Fireside Group. She volunteered with Canadian Bible Society, Canadian
Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation and many other
organizations over the years.
Helen
was the last surviving member of her immediate family and is survived
by her son, Terrance "Terry" (Linda Lindsay),
Pleasant Valley; daughters, Bonita "Bonnie" (James)
Halliday, Dartmouth; Marilyn (Gary) Cunningham, Halifax; Joanne
(Larry) Leavitt, Bible Hill; grandchildren, Daniel Cunningham, Tracie
(John) Renick, Travis Wamboldt, Katie Wamboldt, Sara Leavitt, Jennifer
Leavitt, Jeff Halliday, Ben Halliday; great grandchildren, Alayna and
Madalyn Renick; several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents,
she was predeceased by her husband, Stanley Horace Wamboldt; sisters,
Georgina, Viola, Phyllis, Shirley; brothers, Frank, Frederick,
Maurice, Walter, Robert.
Helen’s remains will rest in First Baptist
Church, 759 Prince Street, Truro, on Thursday, September 11, 2014,
where Diamond Rebekah Lodge # 15 will conduct a tribute service at
12:15 p.m., Ladies Auxiliary of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26,
Truro, will conduct a tribute service at 12:30 p.m., followed by
public visitation until 1:45 p.m., and funeral service at 2 p.m.,
Reverend Paul Worden officiating. Reception will follow in Memorial
Hall. Private family interment in Robie Street Cemetery, 125 Robie
Street, Truro. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in
Helen’s memory to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia
or First Baptist Church are welcomed.
