Cecil Blanchard Ettinger – 97, Bible Hill, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 15, 2014, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born May 19, 1917, in Noel, he was a son of the late Ernest and Edith (Hines) Ettinger.

Cecil worked at Stanton and Jenkins as a truck driver before moving to Welland, Ontario. While there, he worked on the water towers in Niagara Falls, helped build the new Welland Canal and then worked for Clems and Millers Ready Mix for around 30 years until he retired and moved back to Bible Hill. He enjoyed fishing and camping.

Cecil is survived by his daughter, Linda (Wayne); grandchildren, who were his pride and joy, Jennifer, Brett (Charlene), Robyn (Brad); great grandchildren, Karly, Abby, Andrew, Erin, Bradyn; sisters, Mamie (Al) Wyle, Aline; sisters-in-law, Marcey MacLean, Audrey (Charles) Weatherby, Caren (John) Bonnell; special nieces, Janice, Melissa; special mechanic, Midge; several other nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Beulah May (Merritt) (2010); siblings, Pat, Lester, Doug, Mildred, Minie, Myrtle.

Honouring Cecil’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro.
