Mary Ellen MacIsaac – 93, Truro, passed
away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, October
6, 2014, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born March 3,
1921, in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Florence
(Martin) Brown and was raised by other family members following the
death of her mother.
Mary worked at Sears for a number of years and retired in
1987. A true family woman, she took pride in making her house a home
and looking after her family. Each year, she looked forward to
spending her winters with family and friends in South Carolina; she
didn’t enjoy the trip, but was perfectly content when she
got there. She was also an avid Bingo player and enjoyed going to the
casino.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Susan (Brent) Bina, South
Carolina; daughter-in-law, Carol MacIsaac, Lindsay, Ontario; several
nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her
husband, Colin Joseph MacIsaac; son, Colin Joseph MacIsaac, Jr.;
several siblings.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Mary’s
family will receive friends from 10-10:45 a.m., Wednesday, October 8,
2014, followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m., Reverend Valerie
Kingsbury officiating. Reception to follow. Interment in St.
John’s Cemetery, 6 Bedford Highway, Halifax. In lieu of
flowers, donations in Mary’s memory to Heart and Stroke
Foundation of Nova Scotia are welcomed. Private messages of condolence
