Roderick Leroy "Rod" Spencer – 70, Lower Truro, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, December 17, 2014, at home. Born July 30, 1944, in Truro, he was a son of the late Minor and Laura (Chisholm) Spencer.

Rod lived and worked in Portapique for many years before moving to Truro. He could often be seen going for drives with his constant companion, his beloved dog, Baby.

Rod is survived by his wife, Shirley; daughters, Lynda (Chuck), Brantford, Ontario; Lorri, Masstown; Heather, Dartmouth; Cheryl (Mike), Great Village; sons, Ronnie (Amanda), Belmont; Roddie, Truro; James (Daphne), Belmont; 16 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; brother, Willard (Evelyn), Economy; numerous nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Arnold, Norman; sisters, Pearl, Bernice, Verna.

Honouring his wishes, a private interment has taken place in Mahon Cemetery, Great Village. If so desired, donations in Rod’s memory to SPCA or a charity of choice are welcomed. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro.
