Howard, Janet Bernice (Pettigrew) 83, Economy, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2014, in Debert Court, Debert. Born in Economy, she was a daughter of the late Osborne and Julia (Elliott) Pettigrew. Janet was a member of the Economy United Church, and a member of the church choir and the U.C.W. She retired from General Electric, Toronto after 35 years of service.

She is survived by her son Michael (Catherine) of Economy; daughter Sandra Howard-Ferreira (John) of Kingston, ON; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister Dorothy Rector of Great Village; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Roy Douglas Howard; son Frank Douglas Howard; brothers Frank, Royal, Robert Pettigrew; sister Joan Bartlett.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. Visitation will take on Monday from 7-9 and funeral service Tuesday at 1:00 pm in the Economy United Church, Economy.  Rev. Florence Antle-Brison will officiate with burial to follow in the Economy Cemetery. A reception will follow in the Economy Recreational Centre. Donations in memory may be made to the Economy United Church or to the Economy Recreational Centre. A special thank you to the staff of Debert Court for their kindness and care shown to Janet.
