Charles Michael "Charlie" Dale –
82, Bible Hill. It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing
of our dear husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather on
Thursday, January 8, 2015, in the arms of his loving family, at
Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born September 26, 1932,
in Truro, he was a son of the late Charles and Eva (Dorion) Dale. He
had been ill for the last couple of years and never
complained.
Charlie was a member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic
Church and Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26, Truro. He worked at Nova
Scotia Youth Training Centre for 22 years and then went into the
nursing home business until his retirement in 1998. He loved hockey,
especially the Toronto Maple Leafs. He coached hockey and ball teams
and also played hockey for years. He belonged to Truro Curling Club
and Truro Golf Club in former years.
Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Florence
(MacLean); son, Michael (Kim); daughters, Trudy (Phillip) MacBurnie,
Colleen Dale, Donna (Leo) Van Kroonenburg, Darlene (Chris) Hanson;
sister, Nellie Carmichael; sisters-in-law, Catherine Dale, Margaret
Dale, Mary Crooks; brother-in-law, Sandy (Sharlene) MacLean;
grandchildren, Melissa (Jason), Dustin, Tiffany (Jeff), Ashley
(Tyler), Craig (Natalie), Amanda, Leo Jr. (Andrea), Michael, Jessica,
Alicia; great grandchildren, Michaela and Kenzie; several nieces and
nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers,
Gordon in infancy, Wilfred, Jack, Fred; sisters, Mary, Eva;
brothers-in-law, Allan Carmichael, Desmond MacEachern, Lawrence
Crooks, Peter MacLean, James MacLean, Wesley Blair; nieces, Cathy
MacEachern, Debbie MacLean, Betty Blair; nephews, Dale Carmichael,
John D. MacLean. Charlie’s family would like to thank all
the nurses and doctors on 3rd floor, Colchester
East Hants Health Centre, and a special thanks to his family doctor,
Dr. Neil Bower.
Charlie’s family will receive friends from 2-4, 6-8
p.m., prayers at 7 p.m., on Friday, January 9, 2015, in Immaculate
Conception Roman Catholic Church, 669 Prince Street, Truro, where Mass
of Christian Burial will also be held 11 a.m., Saturday, January 10,
2015, Father Francesco Pirisi officiating. Reception will follow in
Campbell Hall. Spring interment in Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Charlie’s
memory to Kane’s Kitchen are welcomed. (Please make cheques
