Irene Ruth
Taylor – 86, Salmon
River, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on
Sunday, January 11, 2015, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre,
Truro. Born December 16, 1928, in Oxford, she was a daughter of the
late Ira and Ruth (MacLeod) Black.
Irene worked as the Lunch Counter Manager at
Woolworth’s for 33 years until they closed. Irene and Joe
attended many functions at Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26, Truro.
She loved flowers, dancing, knitting, crocheting and spending time at
the cottage in Marshville, Pictou County.
Irene is survived by her husband of 35 years, Joseph Kenneth
Taylor, Retired Pipe Major; children, Winston (Joanne) Williams, Bible
Hill; Shirley Williams (Arthur Dupuis), Salmon River; Judy Johnson
(Ron Charles), Bible Hill; step-children, April (Bill) Clark,
Georgetown, Ontario; Chris (Sandra) Taylor, Salmon River; ten
grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one great-great
granddaughter; siblings, Blanche Thorburn, Amherst; Malcolm Black,
Frances Taylor, North River; Donald Black, Onslow; Carman (Bonnie)
Black, Scotsburn; Lloyd (Sharon) Black, Brule; Winston (Sharon) Black,
North River; Ronald (Ann) Black, Marshville, Pictou County; several
nieces and nephews. Special thanks are extended to all the staff of
Intensive Care Unit at Colchester East Hants Health Centre for your
wonderful care.
A celebration of Irene’s life will be held from 11
a.m., - 3 p.m., Saturday, January 17, 2015, at Royal Canadian Legion
Lounge, Branch 26, 42 Brunswick Street, Truro. Private family
interment at a later date in Watson Cemetery. If so desired, donations
in Irene’s memory to Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26
(Building Fund) are welcomed. Arrangements have been entrusted to
Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro.
