Mersereau, Pearl Cynthia, 87, Halifax, passed away peacefully
on Sunday, January 25, 2015, at Arborstone Enhanced Care Halifax, with
her older son by her side. Born in Briggs Corner NB, she was a
daughter of the late Freeman S. and Velma I. (Webber) Thompson. Pearl
went out to work at 12 years of age at Hutchison Farm, Chipman NB,
before moving to Rothesay, where she worked a time at Netherwood
School for Girls and Shadow Lawn Bed and Breakfast in Rothesay, until
her marriage in 1946. Pearl along with her husband Raymond, operated a
farm from 1946 to 1966 in Fredericton Junction NB. She was a great
lover of Country and Gospel Music and also loved company at any time.
She never liked an empty house. She took summer trips with her sisters
which she thoroughly enjoyed and loved to visit her family in Chipman.
She loved her grandchildren dearly and was a great Missionary at home,
helping many Christian Workers along their way. She had a very close
sister and brother relationship with her brother Carl. She was a great
example to all, loving her Bible and her Lord. She was a member of the
Truro Heights Baptist Church in Truro Heights, and very proud of her 2
sons who both became Pastors. Mom endured cancer since she was 40, but
never once complained. She is survived by sons, Rev. Cyril
"Cy" Mersereau, Jordan Falls NS; Pastor Dana (Bonnie)
Mersereau, Campobello Island NB; grandchildren, Bethany, Lori, Ben,
Colleen, Lisa and Susan; great grandchildren, Rachel, Adam, Caitlin;
sisters, Arthura MacBeth and Glenna (Basil) Trail, Chipman; Gale
Ender, Montreal; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her
husband Raymond; grandson, Paul; great granddaughter, Sarah;
sister, Edna; brothers, Lester, Sterling, Carl. Arrangements have been
entrusted to the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street
Truro. Visitation will be held 7-9 pm on Wednesday, January 28, and
funeral service 2 pm Thursday, January 29, followed by a reception,
all in the Truro Heights Baptist Church, with Pastor Jerry Stearns
officiating. The late Mrs. Mersereau will then be transferred to the
Sunbury Funeral Home in Fredericton Junction, where visitation will be
held 7 – 9 pm on Saturday evening, January 29, and funeral
service 2 pm Sunday, February 1, with her sons Rev. Cy Mersereau and
Pastor Dana Mersereau officiating. Interment at a later date in the
Gladstone Cemetery, Fredericton Junction, NB. Donations in
Pearl’s memory may be made to the Truro Heights Baptist
Church or to the Chapel of Living Water, Tracy NB. The family wish to
