Hazel D.L. Hamilton – 90, Valley, Colchester County. It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Hazel D.L. Hamilton at her daughter’s home in Valley on Tuesday, February 3, 2015. Born June 5, 1924, in Truro, she was a daughter of the late Ira B. and Nellie (Smith) Lynds.

Hazel was a member of Brunswick Street United Church where she belonged to the UCW. She also enjoyed social contact with the ladies of Princess Mary Guild until her recent illness. Mom loved to sew and knit, do puzzles and attend Friday night dances at Douglas Street Hall with her sister-in-law, Midge.

Hazel is survived by her daughters, Sandra (Randy) Payson, Valley; Donna (Ross) Hamilton, Ontario; sons, Bryan (Alison) Hamilton, Michael Hamilton, Ontario; grandchildren, Troy (Carmen) Payson, Truro; Christine (Dave) Henson, Brenda (Dan) Greene, Ontario; great grandchildren, Anna, Hayden and Fayth Payson; Caroline and Chloe Henson; Hannah Greene; much loved nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Delores, Florence, Peg and Midge Lynds, all of Truro; Shirley (Jake) Shaw, Ontario; Betty (Hank) Sherrard, Quebec; brother-in-law, Edsel (Kathryn) Hamilton, Onslow. Along with her parents, Hazel was predeceased by her husband, Cecil; brothers, Elmer, Gordon, Merlin and Ronald Lynds; sister, Alva in infancy; brother-in-law, Carl Hamilton; granddaughter, Cassandra Hamilton. Sincere appreciation and thank you to the Palliative Care Team of Dr. David Henderson and Sue Gibbon, VON Team, Dr. Harold Berghuis and Carmen, RN, for the loving care of Mom and the support and love from family and friends.

Funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, February 7, 2015, at Brunswick Street United Church, 250 Brunswick Street, Truro, Reverend John Parsons officiating. Reception will follow in the Dining Hall. Spring interment in Terrace Hill Cemetery. No flowers by request of the family. If so desired, donations to Brunswick Street United Church, Palliative Care Unit of Colchester East Hants Health Centre or Victorian Order of Nurses, Colchester Branch, are welcomed.
