Helen Mildred Burns – 92, Williams Country
Home, Hilden, formerly of Truro, passed away peacefully, with her
special friend Madison at her side, on Saturday morning, February 7,
2015, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born August 31,
1922, in Montrose, Prince Edward Island, she was a daughter of the
late Harry and Christina (Marshall) Pridham.
Helen was a member of Brunswick Street United Church. A
dedicated homemaker all her life, she enjoyed
cooking, sewing, knitting and gardening.
Helen is survived by her son, Hadley Jr. (Saundra) Burns,
Cambridge, Ontario; daughter, Helen "Gay" Ogden, Truro;
grandchildren, Christine, Cpl. David (Andra), Marsha, Mary (Adam),
Kelly (Katie), Terri (Jake); great grandchildren, Conner, Christopher,
Peter, Ruthie, Harvey, Emma, Skylar, Summer, Damian, Zackery, Logan;
sister, Shirley (Blair) Barbour, Prince Edward Island; brothers, Alder
(Bessie) Pridham, Herbert (June) Pridham, Prince Edward Island; Alfred
Pridham, Manitoba; sister-in-law, Andrene Pridham,
Lunenburg; several nieces and nephews. Along with her
parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Hadley Maxwell Burns;
sister, Ina (Murray) Gulliver; brothers, Frank in infancy, Ernest;
great grandson, Liam.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Helen’s
family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday, February 13, 2015,
and where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, February
14, 2015, Reverend John Parsons officiating. Reception will follow.
Spring interment in Selmah United Church Cemetery. If so desired,
donations in Helen’s memory to Colchester Food Bank or a
