Marie "Mary" Svenningsen – 81, Murray Siding, peacefully slipped away from us Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro.  Born August 2, 1933, in Comeau’s Hill, Yarmouth County, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Annie (Newell) Surette.

Mary was the dear mother of Peter Surette (Barbara Rheaume), Valley, Colchester County; Paul (Allyson) Svenningsen, Truro; proud grandmother of three special grandsons, Anthony (Mai) McCallum, Vietnam; Jason (Vanita) Svenningsen, Calgary; Brandon Svenningsen, Truro; great grandmother of Joanthan McCallum, David McCallum, Josephine Svenningsen; sister of Harold (Martha) Surette, Pleasant Lake; Arthur Surette, Tusket; Ida Robitaille, Shediac Bridge, New Brunswick. Aunt Mary will be fondly remembered by her thoughtful nieces who were frequent visitors over the years.

Along with her parents, Mary was predeceased by Roland Baudoux; sisters, Agnes Jacquard, Elizabeth Jacquard, Emilia "Millie" Jacquard, Fannie Jeffrey, Hilda Surette; brother, Wilfred Surette; daughter-in-law, Joan Surette.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Mary’s family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday, February 13, 2015. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m., Saturday, February 14, 2015, at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 669 Prince Street, Truro, Father Dariusz Miskowicz officiating. Reception will follow in Campbell Hall. Spring interment in Crossroads Cemetery, 110 Salmon River Road, Valley.
