Rudolph, Frances Evelina (Levy), 90 of Truro and formerly of Smith’s Cove, Digby County, passed away peacefully with her family at her side in East Cumberland Lodge, Pugwash. She was born February 18th 1924 and died February 17th, on the eve of her 91st birthday. Born in Dartmouth, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Margaret (Reeves) Levy and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She is survived by sons James Norman Rudolph, H. A. Sandy Rudolph (Diane MacLeod), daughter Cathy Lee Rudolph (Steven Plummer); grandchildren Dawn Marie Illsley (Joe), James Allan Rudolph, Jalena Dena Faulkner Childs (Derek), Jonathan Davis Faulkner (Ashley Power), Joseph Michael Rudolph Densmore; great grandchildren Siona Childs and Leila Faulkner and nephews Don Levy (Shirley), Wayne Levy (Pam), Paul Hobrecker and Kevin White along with many nieces and nephews on the Rudolph side.

She was predeceased by her husband James Wesley Rudolph; daughter Patricia Ann Rudolph; sisters Marguerite Hobrecker, Audrey White and brother Charles Levy.

Mom in her early years worked with Ferry Aviation and was very active with the paddlers at Mic Mac Aquatic Club, which was always a delight to her. Mom was a loving mother in raising her family and even took care of all our dogs, cats and pets. She had a love for gardening, especially her strawberry fields in Smith’s Cove. Later, after moving to Truro she was an avid curler, tennis player, bowler and card player.

These are some favourite memories of her by her grandchildren. I enjoyed having Sunday dinners and homemade cookies. Nanny was always a source of entertainment; she was not afraid to be silly with us and loved having us all together. She always had lots of homemade banana bread and ice cream and tea time with Nanny was our chance to catch up and laugh, mostly at her funny stories (her elaborate one woman operation to get rid of a rodent in the shed!). Nanny could be found singing in the morning to wake up her grandkids, baking cookies and sipping tea while chatting about the days gone by. She was well loved and will be missed greatly! She never missed a hockey game or practice, so they gave her an award for being the Best Hockey Grandmother. My favourite memories would have to be of the many picnicking adventures we had around NS. As a child I loved her infectious laugh and storytelling. The funniest was when she sent us out to search for four-leaf clovers. As a child it was a treasure hunt but I’m certain she just wanted a moment of peace. She had a strength of spirit and hope that amazes me still.

At Mom’s request there will be no funeral or visitation. A graveside service will take place at a later date in the Smith-Sulis Cemetery, Smith’s Cove Digby County. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. Donations in memory may be made to St. Anne’s Birch Chapel, Smith’s Cove. Private messages of condolence may be sent to the family by viewing Frances’s obituary on-line and selecting "Send A Condolence" at: www.mattatallvarnerfh.com
