Kenneth "Ken" Lewis Brown - 78, of Truro,
died peacefully Sunday evening March 15,
2015, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro,
with his loving wife by his side. Ken was born in Gilberts
Cove, Nova Scotia, on August 27, 1936 and was a son of the late
Russell and Viola (White) Brown.
Ken spent his early years in the Annapolis Valley, primarily
in Port Williams and later moved to Toronto to work. He
returned to Nova Scotia and settled in Truro, where he became a
policeman for the Truro Town Police for 20 years. In
addition to being a peace officer, he was a voluntary fireman for the
town and a home builder. Ken was a quiet gentle man who
enjoyed spending time with his family and carpentry work. He
was an avid reader and enjoyed learning.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; son, Trevor, daughter,
Angela (Mike) Taggart; step daughter, Stacey MacDonald; sister, Lois
(Jerry) Arnsby; grandchildren, Emily, Laura, Ryan, Autumn and
Makayla. He was predeceased by his brothers, Allan &
Bill and sister, Florence.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner
Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. In keeping with Ken’s
wishes, there will be no visitation. Funeral service will be
held 2 pm Monday, March 23, 2015, at the funeral
home. Interment will be held 4:30
p.m., Saturday, June 20, 2015, at St. John’s
Anglican Church Cemetery, Port Williams, The Reverend Lori Ramsey
officiating. Family flowers only. In lieu of
flowers, please consider the Kidney Foundation of Canada or the
Colchester East Hants Hospice Society for donations. Private
