Kennedy, Russell J., of Truro, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2015. He worked for Pillsbury for over 30 years and was involved in Toastmasters, Christophers, a violinist with the PCCO and a member of the Immaculate Conception Choir. Martha and Russell were avid R Vers and spent their summers at Arm of Gold Campground where they were treated like family. Russell will be most missed by his wife, Martha Cummiskey Kennedy, and his two children, Mal and Marj. Russell’s only granddaughter, Lee-Marie Kennedy, will also miss her "Pop". Uncle to Tony Cummiskey (Joanne), Michelle O’Reagan (Barry), and John Cummiskey (Shelly), who grew up all their lives knowing and loving Russell. He will be missed by sister-in-law, Connie Clark, and his many cousins in Cape Breton. Russell was predeceased by his dear longtime friends, sister-in-law, Sister Mary Cummiskey CND, and brother-in-law, Joseph Cummiskey (Peggy). He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, love of music, teaching and helping others. He faced a difficult illness with strength and dignity that all who knew him had come to know. He will be missed deeply by his many friends and family. Special thanks to the Palliative Care and VON. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street Truro. Visitation will be held 6 ~ 8 pm Sunday, March 22, and Funeral Liturgy 2 pm Monday, March 23, all in the Immaculate Conception Church, 669 Prince Street Truro, Father Dariusz Miskowicz  officiating, with a reception to follow in Campbell Hall. Interment at a later date in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Robie Street Truro. Please make any donations to the ALS Society of Canada.
