Karl Hay Mosher, the son of George Mosher and Minnie Crouse,
was born on February 10th, 1928 in Halifax, and lived in Debert, for
most of his life. He married Eleanor Fowler in 1959 and they were the
proud parents of Margo Joy, Lisa Robyn, Carla Dawn and Andrew Karl. He
leaves his children, his sister, Elaine, and 4 grandchildren;
Nicholas, Emily, Jake and Joely. Karl began as a brakeman for CN but
spent most of his career as an assembly line foreman, for the Volvo
plant in Halifax, while raising his young family in Enfield. In 1972,
the family resettled on his Debert childhood farm, where he cultivated
blueberries with his father and worked as a mechanic in his garage,
after an already full day, at Scott Truck. Although Karl was 'all work
and little play', he also enjoyed collecting guns, antiques and
attending car shows. He loved to walk his land, but relaxed most, at
the family cottage on Angevine Lake or in Bridgewater with the Crouse
Family. Most summer weekends were spent on the lake with his family,
with frequent visits from the Fowlers, Crouses, O’Briens,
Tottens, his parents, his brother Stan, and other family friends.
After the children grew and moved on, Karl spent many years in the
company of friends from Debert and surrounding villages. His many
years as a motorcycle enthusiast resulted in warm friendships from
near and far. His refusal to cook for himself, and his love for
conversation, found Karl at regular favorite restaurants for his daily
meals. Whether at Tim’s in Debert, the Masstown Market, or
the Petrocan, Karl was surrounded by years of friendship as he laughed
joked and teased his way through breakfast, lunch and supper. Karl
remained active and continued to repair cars, cut wood, and farm, well
into his 80s, until his health problems, of the past 2 years,
increased. Karl will be remembered and missed for his family
values, love of the land, work ethic, pride for his children and
grandchildren, and, most especially, his sense of humour. Arrangements
have been entrusted to the Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young
Street, Truro. A celebration of Karl’s Life will take place
on Sunday, March 29th from 2-4 pm in the Debert
Hospitality Centre, Debert. Donations in memory may be made to the
Canadian Cancer Society. Private messages of condolence may be sent to
