W. Bruce Totten – 59, Bedford, formerly of
Truro, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on
Wednesday evening, May 27, 2015, at Palliative Care Unit, VG Site,
QEII. Born February 12, 1956 in Truro, he was a son of the late Avery
and Sadie (Kelland) Totten.
In earlier years, Bruce was a roofer and labourer and then
went on to work at Cambridge Suites in Halifax. Most recently, he
worked at Best Western Plus, Chocolate Lake Hotel, in the maintenance
department. He enjoyed woodworking, building beds and shelves which he
gave to his family, watching World Juniors Hockey and NASCAR, cheering
on his favourite racer, Tony Stewart.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Brenda (Ripley) Totten, Truro;
children, Jackie Totten (James Atkinson), Bruce Totten (Kim
Jackson), Truro; grandchildren, Bethony Totten, Destiny Totten, Ali
Totten, Zander Atkinson, Bruce "BJ" Totten; sister, Kandy
MacLean, Lower Sackville; sister-in-law, Irma (Cam) MacDonald, Truro;
niece, Dawn (Tom) Hauser, Truro; nephews, Drake MacLean, Robert
MacLean, Lower Sackville; John "Jody" (Tammy) Totten, Truro;
girlfriend, Sharon Cook, Bedford. Along with his parents, he was
predeceased by his brother, John Totten.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Bruce’s
family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m., Sunday, May 31, 2015. If so
desired, donations in Bruce’s memory to IWK Health Centre
