Kaulback, Alena M., age 83, of Brookfield, passed away
peacefully, on Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at Elk Court in Brookfield. Born
in Bible Hill, she was a daughter of the late Aubrey and Ella
(Carmichael) Hamilton. Alena was a former employee Maritime Tel
& Tel for over thirty years, retiring in 1993. She was a
member of the Bell Aliant Pioneers and Brunswick Street United Church,
Truro, where she was a former choir member. After her retirement,
Alena and Creighton spent their winters in Florida for three years,
and after Creighton’s death she continued spending her
winters there until 2011, when ill health kept her from doing so.
While in St. Petersburg, Florida, she was President of the Shuffle
Board Club. She is survived by daughter, Darlene (David) Hanham,
Shortts Lake; son, David Kaulback, New Westminster, BC; sister, Sheila
(John) Clark, Salmon River; brothers, Aubrey (Ann) Hamilton, Duncan,
BC; Ken (Sharon) Hamilton, Dartmouth; sister-in-law, Edith Hamilton,
Oromocto, NB; brother-in-law, Ronald McNutt, Valley; aunt, Ethel
(John) King, Kingston, ON; grandchildren, Virginia Hanham, Jodi
(David) Higgins, Heidi (Alex) Zervobeakos, Corey (Amanda) Hanham;
great grandchildren, Bailey, Delaney, Carter, Ben, Jillian, Lauren,
Maria, Anna, Deo, Kali, Haylee; several nieces and nephews. Besides
her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Creighton; sons,
Danny, Darrell and his wife, Verna; sister, Edith McNutt; brother,
Roger Hamilton; great granddaughter, Kenzie. No visitation by request.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral
Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, from where funeral service will be held
2 p.m., Friday, June 12, Rev. Larry Harrison officiating, with a
reception to follow in the funeral home. Interment to be held in the
Robie Street Cemetery, Truro. Family flowers only. Donations in
Alena’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s
Society of Nova Scotia or to a charity of your choice. Private
