Betty Marguerite Cruickshank - Truro, passed away peacefully
Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at Colchester East Hants Health
Centre, Truro, at the age of 83. Born in Truro, she was a
daughter of the late Arthur and Leta (Ward) Maxwell. Betty
loved her children and adored her grandchildren. She was an active
member of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Truro. She had
been involved over the years with Girl Guides and Colchester Arthritis
Society. She and Hugh had remained active with Colchester
Highland Dance Association long after her daughters stopped
dancing. She especially enjoyed Friday night card games with
Marilyn, Allan, Albert, Anne and Ron.
Betty is survived by her devoted husband of 49 years, Hugh;
daughters, Margaret (Richard) Groves, Enfield, NS; Debbie (Jamie)
Bernard, Long River, PEI; grandchildren, Rachel and Maya Groves and
Mitchell and Hillary Bernard; sister-in-law, Isabel Cruickshank; many
nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a brother,
Vernon; sisters, Hazel, Alice, Doris and Shirley.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall - Varner
Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Betty's family will
receive friends from 12:45 p.m. - 1:45 p.m., Saturday, July 25, 2015,
followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m., Reverend Dr. David
Sutherland officiating. Reception will follow. Interment in Robie
Street Cemetery, 125 Robie Street, Truro. If so desired, donations in
Betty’s honour may be made to St. Paul’s
Presbyterian Church or to a charity of choice. On-line condolences may
