Ronald William "Ron" Robertson – 76, Truro. It is with saddened hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Ronald William Robertson on Monday, June 22, 2015. Born October 14, 1938, in Truro, he was a son of the late William and Alice (Lockhart) Robertson.
Ron was a man of God and was active in First Baptist Church, Truro. As a young man, he started as a Sea Cadet, was a sergeant in the Militia and Reservist and served in the Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans Association, including President.
Ron enjoyed life to the fullest every day and on any given day, he could be found playing cards, bowling or dancing. He also loved to travel and thought nothing about going on vacation overseas by himself, but more recently he enjoyed traveling with his companion, Kathryn MacEachern. Ron had a passion for baseball as a player, a coach, a spectator and as an avid Blue Jays fan. He was said to be a great coach from former players and loved to go to his grandson’s games whenever he was able.
Ron is survived by and will be sadly missed by his daughters, Debbie Delaney, Debert; LeeAnne Gray, Winnipeg, Manitoba; grandchildren, Tyler (Danni) Delaney, Gray, Maine; Kelsey Delaney (Matt Cavanagh), Spruce Grove, Alberta; Toni (Jeremy) Lacroix, Jesse Gray; great grandson, Keenan Lacroix, all of Winnipeg, Manitoba; step children, Todd Guilford, Manitoba; Michelle Cardinal, Saskatchewan; Scott Guilford, Ontario, and their families; sister, Irma Pryor, North River; brothers, Owen, British Columbia; Darrell (Donna), Hilden; Roy (Gladys), Truro; several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Mary Leppard; brothers, George, Douglas; grandson, Christopher Gray.
Funeral service will be held 2:30 p.m., Sunday, June 28, 2015, in First Baptist Church, 759 Prince Street, Truro, Reverend Paul Worden officiating. Reception will follow in Memorial Hall. If so desired, donations in Ron’s memory to Canadian Diabetes Association or First Baptist Church (General Fund) are welcomed.
