William A.G. "Bill"
Buck - 77, Middle Sackville, passed away
peacefully Thursday, July 30, 2015, at VG Site, QEII, Halifax. Born
May 21, 1938, in Sherbrooke, Quebec, he was a son of the late William
and Georgina (Mitchell) Buck.
Bill was a member of Knox United Church since
1970 where he had served as an Elder. He was also a member of the
Pastoral Care Team, a former leader with Boy Scouts, Venturers and
Rovers and was active in many other church groups and activities. He
served with RCAF for over 22 years attaining the rank of Sergeant.
After retirement, he worked with Halifax Daily News as circulation
manager, was sales supervisor for Wonder Bread, sold real estate in
the Lower Sackville area for fifteen years and worked with the Corp of
Commissionaires for ten years.
Bill is survived by his daughters, Sandra Mae
(Doug) O’Neill, Orleans, Ontario; Tracy (Tom) Bishop,
Kinsac; son, David (Ann) Buck, Kinsac; grandchildren, Sam and Lauren
O’Neill, Aaron and Alex Bishop, Micheal and Lily Buck;
sisters, Susan Hebert, New Hampshire; Jackie Lariviere, Moncton;
Victoria "Vicky" Buck, Drummondville, Quebec;
Phyllis-Mae Buck, Sherbrooke, Quebec; Marlene (Mark) Beaudoin,
Sherbrooke, Quebec; Patricia "Patti" (George)
Schnare, Stroud, Ontario; brother, Stephen (Dale) Buck, Winnipeg;
numerous nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was
predeceased by his wife, Doris (Walker) Buck; brother-in-law, Erwin
Lariviere.
Bill’s family will receive friends from
6-8 p.m., Monday, August 3, 2015, in Knox United Church, 567 Sackville
Drive, Lower Sackville, where the funeral service will be held 11
a.m., Tuesday, August 4, 2015, Reverend Robert Chapman officiating.
Reception will follow. Interment in Oakridge Memory Gardens, 1078 Old
Sackville Road, Middle Sackville. Family flowers only. If so desired,
donations in Bill’s memory to Canadian Diabetes Association
or Canadian Cancer Society are welcomed. Arrangements have been
entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young
