DOROTHY VIOLA (SANFORD) REDMOND

Dorothy V. Redmond, 94, Truro NS passed away peacefully at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, on Sunday, August 2, 2015. Born October 4, 1920 in North Alton, Kings Co. NS, she was the daughter of George & Evorna (Bonnie) Sanford. Dorothy graduated from Moncton School of Nursing in 1942 and worked in the Colchester Regional Hospital until her retirement. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Truro and served 55 years in the Catholic Women's League. She was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 26, Ladies Auxiliary, and an avid member of Colchester Heritage Rug Hooking Guild.

Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, L. Vincent Redmond and sister, Bonnie Eaton. She is survived by her sister, Freda Blackwell, BC, two daughters, Roselyn (Darrell) Reid, Truro and Marie Redmond, Beaverbrook, 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. She will be greatly missed by her entire family.

Dorothy's favorite place was her cottage at Shortts Lake where she spent every summer. A special thanks to the staff at Brentwood Ponds, Brentwood that cared for her during her short stay there and the nurses of 3D at the hospital. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. A family graveside service will be held at Robie St. Cemetery on Thursday with a reception to follow at Mattatall-Varner Funeral Home at 12 noon.
